Fall 2026 Bag Trends

Welcome to The Edit!

Each season, I'll be rounding up the bag trends I'm genuinely excited about, and let you know which Sundays in Paris purse hook I would pair with each one. Colour, print, texture, and the small styling tricks that make a bag you already own feel new again.

If you are trying to work out what is actually worth buying this season and what is going to look dated by February, that is what this is for. Five trends, five hooks, and a reason for each.

Quick note in case you are new here. A purse hook is foldable, and it hooks onto the edge of any table so you can hang your bag instead of setting it on the floor. Ours hold up to twenty pounds, fit a table edge up to two and a half inches thick, and fold into a case smaller than a compact.

Without further ado, here are the five fall 2026 bag trends I keep reaching for.

1. Deer print, the animal print of fall 2026

Leopard print had a long run but now it's time for its softer cousin to shine. Deer print has arrived with fawn spots in a warm tan and cream, and it's here to stay.

It started on Tory Burch's autumn 2025 runway, ran through Sandy Liang's Gap collaboration and Sofia Richie Grainge's first collection, and then quietly took over resale and my entire For You page.

What I love about it is that it does two things at once. The brown and cream base goes with chocolate, camel, olive and denim, so it slots straight into what you already own. But it is also the fun part of the outfit, and the warm tan running through the print gives you a reason to pull in a pop of colour you would not normally reach for. A rust knit. A deep green coat. A red shoe.

How to wear it: let the bag be the loudest thing you have on, then pick one colour out of the print and echo it somewhere else.

Pair it with: the Sundays in Paris Petite purse hook in black. The print is already doing plenty. The hook does not need a turn.

2. Light blue with brown, the easiest colour pairing of the season

Grazia traced it across three collections this year: cerulean against chocolate at Tory Burch, both tones in sequins at Rabanne, and crisp blue collars under deep brown leather trenches at Stella McCartney.

Brown is warm and it can get heavy on its own. A little light blue next to it is like someone opening a window.

You almost certainly own a blue button down and a brown bag already, which means you own this trend and just have not put the two together yet. Or if you have a light blue bag, pair it with your favorite rich brown sweater and jeans for a trendy but confident look.

How to wear it: light blue oxford, chocolate trousers, a cognac shoulder bag. Or flip it, with a brown knit over pale blue denim.

Pair it with: the Sundays in Paris Signature purse hook in silver. Silver picks up the blue instead of fighting it.

3. Burgundy, fall 2026's new neutral

Ferragamo, Chanel, Miu Miu, Gucci and Dior all showed burgundy bags for fall, and Marie Claire called it one of the five handbag trends of the season. The line everyone keeps landing on is that burgundy is the new neutral. People have been saying that since 2025 and it has finally turned out to be true.

Go deep and slightly brown. Oxblood, wine, dried cherry. The bright cherry reds photograph beautifully and are a stunning but subtle piece to add to your fall lineup.

How to wear it: one burgundy piece per outfit, then stop. If the bag is burgundy, the shoes are not.

Pair it with: the Sundays in Paris Signature purse hook in gold. Burgundy and gold is not a subtle combination and I have made my peace with that.

4. Suede bags, the material of the season

Gucci, Miu Miu, Khaite and The Row all went heavy on suede this season, then Coach and Madewell about ten minutes later. Chocolate, camel, burgundy and black are doing the most work but you'll see some olive suede thrown in here too.

What makes suede feel expensive is that the texture does the job colour usually has to. A plain chocolate suede tote with jeans and a grey sweater looks finished in a way the same bag in smooth leather does not. The catch is that suede has opinions. It does not like water, it does not like scuffs, so be especially careful not to set her down on a restaurant floor or the top of your table.

How to wear it: let suede be the only texture playing in your outfit. Suede bag with wool, denim or cotton, and leave the suede boots for another day.

Pair it with: the Sundays in Paris Petite purse hook in black. Small enough to live in the bag, which means it is there on the night it matters.

5. Silk scarves tied to your bag handle

Silk scarves tied to bag handles for fall 2026, a scarf wrapped around a top handle, an animal print scarf knotted on a black hobo, a printed scarf on a bucket bag and a polka dot scarf on a brown shoulder bag

Silk scarves were everywhere in the spring shows at Hermès, Tod's, Calvin Klein and Ferragamo. At the neck, on the head, around the waist. The version that actually caught on takes ten seconds: knotted around the handle of a bag. We're just now transitioning from our summer scarves to fall.

It is the cheapest way I know to make a four year old bag feel new. It adds colour to a neutral bag, it pulls an outfit together when nothing else will, and it covers a scuff on the handle without a single person noticing.

How to wear it: a small twilly or a folded pocket square, tied once at the base of the handle with the ends left long. Or wrap the whole handle for a cleaner look. Pattern on a plain bag, plain on a printed one.

Pair it with: the Sundays in Paris Petite purse hook in silver. It lives in the same family as the scarf and the charm and the good keyring. Small things that do not change the bag but absolutely change how it feels to carry.

One last thing

Five trends, five hooks. The only thing left is where the bag goes once you sit down, and I would rather it not be the floor.

Shop our Signature purse hooks for the classic shape, or the Petite if you want a slimmer hook that's effortless in your bag.

Buy the bag. Then give it somewhere to sit. See you next quarter.
